About SAfrinomics

Economics that meets the operating reality.

A South African research and analytics firm built to close the gap between complex evidence and practical decisions.

Why we exist

Better evidence should lead to better capital decisions.

SAfrinomics (Pty) Ltd provides data-driven insight to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, financial institutions, development organisations and public-sector stakeholders.

We specialise in applied economic analysis, credit risk analytics, pricing and revenue optimisation, and quantitative modelling—translating complex economic and financial data into decision-ready insight that can improve competitiveness, financial resilience and long-term growth.

Our lean, technology-enabled and project-driven model gives clients access to credible independent analysis without needing to maintain a full in-house economics or analytics function.

Operating principles

How we protect the quality of the work.

The method matters, but so does whether the analysis survives contact with the decision it is meant to support.

01

Decision-led

We begin with the choice the client must make, then determine what evidence and method will genuinely improve it.

02

Methodologically transparent

Assumptions, limitations and analytical choices are made clear so the result can be trusted and challenged.

03

Context-aware

Models are interpreted against South African operating realities, institutional constraints and firm-level economics.

04

Action-oriented

Every engagement ends with a usable output: a model, roadmap, decision pack, brief or implementation priority.

Who we support

A shared need for clearer evidence.

Our clients and partners operate in different parts of the economy, but each needs analysis that can be acted on.

Pricing, funding readiness, cash-flow resilience and evidence for expansion.

Economic research, sector evidence and concise policy-facing recommendations.

Abongile Vika

Institutional finance insight, applied to development and growth.

Abongile brings a background in Non-Bank Financial Institutions credit analysis at one of South Africa's top four banks, with experience across credit risk assessment, portfolio analysis, pricing and institutional financing frameworks.

That professional grounding helps ensure SAfrinomics' outputs reflect the way banks, DFIs and institutional investors assess risk and allocate capital—not only how a model appears on paper.

In parallel, his doctoral research in Economics at the University of Pretoria examines financial systems, capital allocation and applied economic analysis for development and market efficiency. The research agenda informs SAfrinomics' methods while remaining distinct from client work.
